Perhaps it's the soils of San Rafael, or perhaps it's winemaker Rubén Arroyo's skill with the grape, but there's a distinct hint of Mediterranean winemaking to the Argana Syrah 2020, a medium-bodied wine with Italian sensibilities. Scents of sour cherry and leather continue on the palate, joined by fresh notes of orange peel, sweet red vermouth, and black olives. It's a delightful, playful ruby-red combination that will make you think of aperitifs taken in the sunlight on the promenade while the suave cat-burglar at the table next to you enjoys a Negroni.
